Meet Russell

Russell Cowie, one-time apprentice of Taylor Ferguson launched his own Salon on Dumbarton Road, Glasgow in 2009 and has never looked back. After 14 years working with A list clients Russell wanted to create a comfortable environment where people can relax and enjoy having their hair styled without some of the fuss that comes with some of the bigger, well-known salons in town.

“When I went out on my own, I didn’t expect to still be working with famous faces coming in from every division in Scotland, I have lots of footballers’ wives and have had some actors and actresses in, as well as radio personalities.

Ultimo bra tycoon Michelle Mone is another fan of the modest salon, in Glasgow’s Dumbarton Road, But Russell says it’s the down-to earth attitude of the staff that ensures his star clients keep coming back. “But I know from working in those type of salons that they make a big deal of celebrities when they come in. “It’s not like that in here and I think that’s part of the attraction.

“Michelle Mone called us ‘Glasgow’s hidden gem’ after she had been in here. I think she enjoyed being treated like any other client would. When they come in here, they are just needing their hair cut and every single one of them is pleasant and friendly.”
